Daytime Emmy-winning composer Stephen J. Lawrence is no more for Sesame Street. He was 82 when he breathed his last. Lawrence died on December 30 at Clara Mass Medical Center in Belleville, New Jersey, his wife, Cantor Kathy Lawrence, confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter. He received a three-day Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Music Direction and Composition for his work on the show.
Along with an interest in children’s education, Lawrence also collaborated with The Jim Henson Company when he composed the score for The Vubulous World of Dr. Seuss. Lawrence is survived by his wife Cantor Kathy Lawrence, brother Robert, daughter Hannah Jones Anderson, son-in-law Seth Anderson, grandson Arthur and stepson Sam and Nick Kline.
